Matt walked into their locker room, yawning in exhaustion. It had been a long day, and very tiring match. Jeff had promised he would be along shortly, after he stopped by Adam and Jay's locker room to wish them a Merry Christmas.

 "Good match."

Matt's head jerked up at the voice. He smiled when he saw Lisa Moretti, better known as the WWF's Ivory, sitting on a bench waiting for him. "Thanks," he replied with a smile, sitting down next to her. "Yours was incredible. You and Jackie can really wrestle."

"Thank you," Lisa returned, smiling happily. "I did like my own ring gear better, though. At least I don't have to wear a skirt anymore."

Matt chuckled. "Like you could really wrestle in a skirt. The pants look much better on you, anyway. You've got great legs."

"Well, so do you," Lisa told him, setting a hand tenderly on his arm. "But - um - " She cleared her throat nervously. "I didn't really come to talk about matches, Matt."

"No?" Matt looked at her inquiringly. "What, then?"

Lisa pursed her lips, looking thoughtful. "Well, there was something I was thinking of doing."

"What?" Matt urged, looking very curious.

"It has to deal with your Christmas present. Part of it anyway. It's something I'm going to offer you, but you don't have to accept. I can always give it to you later, if you want it at all."

"Come on Lisa, just tell me!" Matt exclaimed.

Lisa scrutinized him carefully. "First, tell me how you feel about me. Honestly."

"How I feel about you?" Matt shook his head, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I think you should know by now! I love you." He leaned in and gave her a tender kiss.

Lisa was smiling as he drew back. "Alright then," she said slowly. "I love you too, and I want you to have what I got for you. But close your eyes, ok? And you don't have to accept it if you don't want it."

Matt smiled, closing his eyes. "I'm sure I'll love it, whatever it is," he told her. He heard her moving around, and he felt her take his hand in hers.

"Ok," Lisa said, sounding very nervous. "I guess you can open your eyes now."

Matt slid his eyes open, and gasped. Lisa was kneeling before him, and open velvet box in her hand. Inside it was a beautiful diamond ring. "I know this is normally the guy's role, but I've never been a typical woman," she explained, still sounding nervous. "Matt Hardy, I love you, and I want to be with you. Will you marry me?"

Matt stared at her, his mouth slightly open. Though he had never told anyone, getting proposed to had always been something of a fantasy of his. He liked a strong woman, who could take care of herself and wasn't afraid to take the first step. That was why he had said yes when Lisa asked him out, and that was why he had fallen in love with her.

Lisa took his silence the wrong way. She glanced at the floor, biting her lip. "I'm sorry, I guess we're not ready," she said sadly, flipping the ring box closed.

"No, honey." Matt grabbed her wrist, tear pricking his eyes. "I'm just so surprised! I never expected anything like this. We are ready, Lisa. We've been together more than a year, and we both love each other. I would love to marry you."

"Really?" A smile spread across Lisa's face. "So that's a yes?"

"You bet it is!" Matt jumped to his feet, pulling Lisa into his arms and spinning around with her, barely able to contain his excitement. "Oh my god, this is so great!" he exclaimed as he set her down. "We've got to start planning right away! We have to find a nice place, caterer, flowers, music, guest - this is going to be so so great!"

Lisa laughed. "Honey, we're not getting married tomorrow. We're engaged now, but we have plenty of time to plan the ceremony."

"Yes." Matt took a deep breath to still his rapidly beating heart. He glanced at the ring box in Lisa's hand. "Well let's make this official," he stated, offering his hand to Lisa. She smiled, flipping open the box and slipping the ring onto his finger. Then she drew him into a tight hug, and they shared a deep, love-filled kiss.

"This is so wonderful, honey," Matt whispered, peering into her deep eyes. He took her hand and pulled her towards the door, skipping around like a kid on Christmas morning. "Come on, let's go tell everybody!" Lisa laughed and followed, a big grin on her face.
