Shawn’s ass was driving him crazy. It looked so delicious wrapped up in
those tight jeans, and he hadn’t gotten a piece of it in ages. His
husband – alternately referred to as ‘the wife’ and ‘the old ball and
chain’ when Shawn wasn’t listening – wasn’t really up for locker room
sex these days, but Hunter figured it was worth a shot anyway. The
surprise might coax Shawn into going along with it.
Hunter swiftly locked the door, checking himself out in the mirror on the back of it. He was shirtless, his muscles glistening with a light coat of sweat, his lower half wrapped in body-hugging jeans. He grinned, striding over to Shawn, who was bent over the couch packing his bag.
“Hey baby,” Hunter murmured, wrapping his arms around Shawn’s back and murmuring in his husband’s ear, “What say we delay leaving for a while, hmmm?” He nibbled on the lobe of Shawn’s left ear, an action which used to get Shawn hot and bothered fast. To his surprise, his husband pushed him away, scowling at him in annoyance.
“I’m not in the mood for games, Hunter,” Shawn snapped. “I’m tired, and I’m going back to the hotel to sleep. If your dick needs to be satisfied, go have one of your little sluts take care of it.”
Hunter stood frozen, gaping at Shawn. The passion in their marriage had been luke warm, at best, since Shawn’s return to the active roster, but Hunter’s carnal need had never decreased. He had sought physical satisfaction with quite a lot of men, and even though Shawn ignored the locker room gossip, he had to know about Hunter’s affairs. Still, he had never actually acknowledged that he knew, and his harsh words hit Hunter like a sack of bricks.
Shawn signed and rolled his eyes at his husband’s stunned silence. “You know I know, Hunter,” he said, in a quiet, slightly strained voice. “I always have. When I had to ‘retire’, I found God, while you found every available dick on the roster.”
Hunter threw his hands up in the air, his surprise melting into long-burning frustration. “Is it so god damn wrong to want to fuck my own husband?” he exclaimed. “I only went to other guys because you stopped putting out, and you know it! I guess when you were talking to God he told you to forget about honoring thy husband!” He gritted his teeth as he received a ringing slap.
“How dare you!” Shawn yelled. “How dare you say that! You’re the one committing adultery, and flaunting it before the whole company!”
“I don’t flaunt it!” Hunter growled in return. “I just stopped caring about hiding it, Shawn! Why the hell should I bother, when everyone knows my husband is a bible-thumping bitch who won’t let me touch him anymore! The bible doesn’t say anything about sleeping in a separate bed than your husband!”
“And how would you know? You haven’t even read the bible!” Shawn spat back.
“Oh, well, if I agree to read it, will you let me fuck you again?” Hunter retorted. “How many psalms do I have to read to get a blowjob?”
Shawn gritted his teeth, marching over to the couch and throwing the rest of his things into his bag. He yanked it shut, throwing it over his shoulder and striding angrily towards the door. “I cannot believe you just said that!” he spat out.
“This is why our marriage is a joke, Shawn!”
Shawn paused, his hand on the doorknob. He turned around, looking at Hunter with angry and hurt eyes. “Our marriage is not a joke,” he stated.
“Yes,” Hunter replied succinctly, “it is. It’s become a joke. You don’t care about me anymore, Shawn. All you’ve cared about since you were ‘reborn’ is preaching from that book.”
“Faith is a cornerstone of life!” Shawn replied indignantly.
“So is love!” Hunter shook his head, looking down at the floor. Shawn thought he saw a bit of wetness glistening in his husband’s eyes. “If this is how it’s gonna be,” Hunter whispered, “then let’s do what we should’ve done a long time ago.” He swallowed, looking up and meeting Shawn’s concerned gaze. “Let’s separate.”
Shawn’s bag slipped to the ground, the former heartbreaker’s agonized eyes focused on his man. “Hunter, we can’t,” he whispered, swallowing hard.
“Right.” Hunter snorted, trying to look annoyed, but his eyes were increasingly wet. “Because the bible forbids it, right?” Shawn was silent. Hunter wiped at his eyes, taking a deep breath. “Remember when we fell in love, Shawn?” he said softly. “We were crazy back then. You’d throw your clothes off in the middle of the hall, jump naked onto the couch and thrust your ass out, begging me to fuck you. We never even bothered to lock the door.” He had to wipe at his eyes again. “You wanted me back then. You really wanted me. Now it’s like some kind of sin if I try to touch you.”
Shawn listened stiffly. “We were different people back then, Hunter,” he replied. “People do stuff like that when they’re young and crazy.”
“And then they get old and forget about sex and sit and read their bibles every night,” Hunter stated bitterly. “I remember when I tried to put my hand on your thigh last week. You slapped it away.”
Shawn flushed. “I was reading the holy book! It was profane for you to touch me like that!”
“When can I touch you like that?” Hunter’s muscles tightened with frustration. “You’re my husband, Shawn! I’m not asking you to do S&M here, I just want to make love to you! Do you wanna give me a list of times when it’s ok to touch you?”
“Hunter, you’re being ridiculous,” Shawn replied. “Sex is only a small part of marriage! If you spent more time getting to know the Lord, maybe you’d realize that!”
Hunter sat down on the couch, raising his hand to rub at his temples. He said nothing.
Shawn stood awkwardly in the door. “Hunter?”
“Just go,” Hunter sighed. Shawn hesitated a moment, then turned and left. Hunter lay down on the couch, staring sightlessly up at the ceiling. This was how it was now. The old ball and chain, sitting at the hotel, re-reading his bible and ignoring every other part of life. It brought tears to his eyes to remember the man he had married, all those years ago. He loved that man, and he kept telling himself that he still loved Shawn, because technically Shawn was that man.
He wanted that man in his arms. He wanted to hold him right now. He could easily go find someone else, pull them onto this couch, and have some cheap sexual experience with them. But someone else wasn’t what he longed for; he wanted the Heartbreak Kid, and nothing else. He wanted it so badly, but it wasn’t possible. Shawn had renounced that part of himself a long time ago, and nothing Hunter did could convince him to reopen that chapter.
Hunter wanted to cry. He wanted to scream. He wanted to throw his hands in the air and surrender to life, give up and just have this frustration and sadness end.
He sighed, refusing to let himself wallow in misery like this. He walked to his bag, taking out his small portable DVD player and his favorite DVD, which he himself had compiled. He lovingly slipped the DVD in, watching as his beauty, HBK, danced across the screen, in his prime and full of life. He watched the video for several minutes, a smile creeping across his face. When he had seen enough, he shut it off, shoving the player back in his bag and hurriedly striding out of the room, heading for the closest willing partner he could think of.
He barged into a dressing room several doors down, thrilled to see one of his usual fucks inside and alone. He didn’t bother to lock the door. In a way, he liked it when someone walked in on him in a compromising position. He liked everyone knowing that he cheated on Shawn, because Shawn deserved it. It felt like revenge, and it was the only way he knew to get it.
“Don’t speak,” he commanded as his quary, Edge, looked up at him. He seated himself on the bench before Edge, pulling the Rated R Superstar down onto his knees. “Just suck me.” Edge smirked in amusement as Hunter unzipped his fly, the blonde setting about the task in his typical masterful manner. Hunter leaned his head back, closing his eyes as he ran his fingers through Edge’s silky hair. In his mind’s eyes, he saw Shawn on his knees, imagined that it was HBK who was giving him tingles throughout his entire body.
“Oh yeah baby,” Hunter murmured, stroking his lover’s hair. “Suck it
baby. Yeah.” ‘Oh Shawn,’ his mind added silently.
